FREMONT, CA: Cecilia Chan, a widely recognized expert in fixed income, who has worked in HSBC Global Asset Management since 1994, has been recently appointed as the Chief investment officer. She has been reporting to Joanna Munro, HSBC Asset Management's global chief investment officer since 1st February, 2021, as she commenced her role. The current CIO for Asia-Pacific and global equities, Bill Maldonado will depart from the firm to explore other opportunities.
Furthermore, on this subject, Laurent Proutiere has been appointed as the bank's new Asia-Pacific head of international trade and transaction banking by Credit Agricole. He has been a part of the firm since 2002, and he was chief executive officer of Credit Agricole CIB's Taipei branch until he began his new role on December 18, 2020. In his 18 years at the bank, he has held different roles at the bank along with the bank's credit derivatives team in London from 2007 and the Asia loan syndication team in Hong Kong from 2012. . Proutiere will be reporting to Laurent Chenain, global head of international trade and transaction banking based in Singapore, and regionally to Michel Roy, senior regional officer for Asia-Pacific.
James Gee-Chul Les has been appointed as managing director and chief executive officer for South Korea by EquitiesFirst, a global financial specialist, while for the firm's Thailand operations, Ratakorn Kiatikajornthoda has been named as the managing director. Gee-Chul, who was a relationship partner for global and institutional clients at South Korean law firm Kim and Chang, has more than 24 years of experience in financial services and legal consultancy. He has worked at international legal firms such as Sidley Austin, Slate, Skadden Arps, Meagher & Flom and Clifford Chance and has also served as general counsel for Bank of America Merill Lynch Korea.
